TRAINING COURSE FOR THE TEAM OF PHYSICAL REHABILITATION DOCTORS IN UZHHOROD

04.10.2023

15 members of the multidisciplinary team of doctors working at the Uzhhorod Regional Clinical Centre of Neurosurgery and Neurology completed a two-day training course on mastering the basic techniques of stimulation electromyography as part of the implementation of our Foundation’s grant project with the support of the UNDP.

The training was conducted by Yuriy Ponomarenko, a senior neurologist, candidate of medical sciences, and Olga Kudra, a neurologist, and Ph.D. candidate.

Electroneuromyography (ENMG) is a modern diagnostic method used in neurosurgery, neurology, and rehabilitation to assess the function of patients’ muscles and nerves. It helps doctors to make a more accurate diagnosis and develop a treatment plan. After a diagnosis is made, ENMG can be used to monitor the effectiveness of treatment. This allows doctors to determine whether there is an improvement in the function of muscles and nerves under the influence of therapy.

In neurosurgery, ENMG can be valuable in determining whether surgery is needed and how best to plan it. It can also assist surgeons in identifying the optimal approach to the procedure and evaluating the preoperative condition of the patient.
