MEDICAL EQUIPMENT WORTH $35,500 GRANTED TO THE GYNECOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF Y. LYPA LVIV REGIONAL HOSPITAL

28.05.2024

On July 15, 2024, as part of the “Resilience: Regained Strength” project aimed at improving medical care and rehabilitation in Ukraine, we transferred a G11 Ethicon (General Electric) Ultrasound Generator to the gynecology department of the Lviv Hospital named after Y. Lipa. The total value of this equipment is 1,258,627 hryvnias (USD 35,500).

This electrosurgical and ultrasound device will be used for surgical operations on women. It reduces the trauma of surgical interventions, eliminates the need for stitches, and decreases blood loss by 40-50%. Additionally, the duration of operations is halved, and the postoperative recovery period is shortened from 7-10 days to just 2-3 days.

This device not only benefits patients but also directly impacts the work of the operating doctor. Shorter operation times mean less fatigue for doctors, allowing them to treat more patients efficiently.

The uniqueness and effectiveness of the device lie in its multifunctionality, allowing cutting and sealing with a single device, whereas traditionally, at least two different pieces of equipment are needed.

Moreover, this equipment can be used not only in gynecology but also for various types of surgeries of differing complexities. With its use, the hospital can perform about 10 surgeries per week.

In 2023, over 460 patients received necessary medical care in the gynecology department of the Y. Lipa Lviv Hospital. These patients include women defenders, emergency service workers, wives of Ukrainian defenders, internally displaced persons, local women, and those with various gynecological issues. Among the patients are also women who were wounded by shelling or evacuated from frontline areas.
