REHABILITATION COURSE FOR ZAKHAR VAKULENKO (23,500 UAH)

29.08.2024

In June 2024, we funded a rehabilitation course for Zakhar Vakulenko at the “Step by Step to the Goal” Physical Rehabilitation Center, amounting to  23,500 UAH. Zakhar successfully completed the course in August.

Diagnosis: Autism
Date of Birth: June 4, 2015

Zakhar is almost 9 years old. He was diagnosed with autism in early childhood. Since the age of 3, he has been receiving care from various rehabilitation centers, working with correctional specialists, and undergoing medical treatment. This combination of therapy yielded good results — Zakhar enjoyed attending kindergarten and successfully socialized with others. However, everything changed with the full-scale war. Zakhar’s health significantly deteriorated, and he now requires continuous rehabilitation and treatment.

In 2022, the family had to evacuate from Luhansk. They relocated to three different cities, and Zakhar’s treatment was interrupted. For children with autism, systematic and continuous treatment is crucial; any disruption in this process can lead to noticeable regression.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the foundation and the kind donors, thanks to whom my son was able to undergo this much-needed and long-awaited rehabilitation! As a result of this course, my son made a huge leap in his development, speech, and socialization! Zakhar started talking more, using new words, and even forming phrases! He can now explain what he wants and even tell us where he feels pain. His communication with new people has improved, he has developed an interest in other children, and even made new friends, which is so important! Every day we eagerly looked forward to rehabilitation, and I saw the excitement in my son’s eyes.” – shares Olena, Zakhar’s mother.

Thank you to everyone for your support and care for Zakhar! This project was made possible thanks to the fundraising campaign on the dobro.ua platform.
