SLING THERAPY TRAINING FOR 10 DOCTORS OF THE LVIV HOSPITAL
Ten doctors from the rehabilitation department of the Lviv Regional Hospital named after Y. Lypa participated in specialized sling therapy training as part of the «Resilience: Regained Strength» project, aimed at improving the quality of medical care and rehabilitation in Ukraine.
Earlier, through this project, the hospital received a Levitas PRO Sling Therapy System and a Beryl procedure table. The training was designed to teach doctors how to work effectively with this equipment, which is a vital tool in the rehabilitation process.
WHAT IS SLING THERAPY?
Sling therapy is a physical rehabilitation method that uses suspension systems to ease the movement of patients. By reducing the load on the joints and muscles, patients can perform movements safely and effectively, improving mobility, reducing pain, and restoring limb functions. This method is particularly useful for patients with limited mobility due to musculoskeletal injuries, nervous system disorders, or other chronic and post-traumatic conditions.
It helps to precisely control the load on muscles, enhances coordination, stimulates blood circulation, and reduces swelling and inflammation. Sling therapy is also effective in restoring balance and the function of smaller muscles, allowing patients to return to active life more quickly. Thanks to this comprehensive approach, the method can reduce rehabilitation time by 20-30%, especially when combined with other physiotherapy methods.
ABOUT THE HOSPITAL
The Lviv Regional Hospital named after Y. Lypa is one of the leading medical institutions in the region, specializing in medical, psychological, and physical rehabilitation for wounded civilians, veterans, and internally displaced persons affected by the war. Since the start of full-scale war, the hospital has provided rehabilitation services to more than 5,000 patients, including evacuees arriving by medical trains—peaceful civilians such as women, youth, and elderly people affected by shelling and bombings.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Our «Resilience: Regained Strength» project aims to provide crucial assistance to 7 medical institutions in Ukraine located in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, and Vinnytsia regions. These institutions offer medical and rehabilitation services to various groups of individuals who have suffered injuries, including loss of mobility due to shelling and combat.
The mission of this project is to help as many affected Ukrainians as possible return to autonomous lives and minimize the social issues caused by the large number of injured.
The project is implemented with the support of our partner, GlobalGiving.
