FROM FIRST STEPS TO NEW OPPORTUNITIES: SUPPORTING VETERANS’ RECOVERY IN LVIV REGION
As part of our “Rehabilitation: New Life” project, supported by GlobalGiving, we’ve delivered new rehabilitation equipment to the Halychyna Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center in the Lviv region.
It’s one of the largest rehabilitation centers for veterans in Ukraine, where around 300 people are recovering at the same time.
The new equipment includes:
• Neofect Smart Pegboard for fine motor skills training
• TNCH-2 parallel bars for relearning to walk
• Dyaco 7.0T treadmill for rehabilitation
Total value of the equipment: 965,580 UAH.
The Center works with people who have some of the most complex injuries — amputations, loss of vision or hearing, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. It also has two modern prosthetic labs where specialists take measurements and fit prostheses.
“All three pieces of equipment are very high quality. Our patients enjoy using the new treadmill to restore their walking ability, especially after prosthetic fitting. The parallel bars help them take their first steps, and the smart pegboard is great for training fine motor skills and different grips playfully. This keeps the rehabilitation process engaging and motivating,” says Dmytro Pavlovskyi, Head of the Physical Rehabilitation Department.
This isn’t the first time we’ve supported Halychyna. Since the start of 2024, we’ve donated other specialized rehabilitation equipment — from active training devices and a neuromyograph to a fine motor skills table, a suspension system, and a pool lift.
Because of the war, thousands of Ukrainians have suffered severe injuries that have changed their lives forever. Many need long-term treatment and constant support — and we want to make sure they have everything they need for recovery.
Every day, the Center’s team of doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists works side by side with patients. They focus not only on exercises and procedures, but also on finding the right approach for each person — helping them regain both their physical abilities and their confidence.
Behind every rehabilitation story is not just the fight for health, but the journey back to life, family, and dreams. Every step matters — and that’s why supporting recovery remains one of our top priorities.
