A MODERN REHABILITATION TREADMILL FOR PATIENT RECOVERY IN IVANO-FRANKIVSK
As part of the Rehabilitation: New Life project, we provided the Center for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Clinical Hospital with a modern 7.0T rehabilitation treadmill worth UAH 600,000.
The Center supports adult patients recovering from strokes, traumatic brain injuries, surgeries, and severe injuries, as well as people with cardiovascular and respiratory conditions. Rehabilitation services are provided both on an inpatient basis — the Center has 33 beds — and on an outpatient basis.
Due to the war, the need for high-quality rehabilitation in Ukraine has increased dramatically. Every day, thousands of Ukrainians begin their journey to recovery, supported by teams of professionals who help them regain mobility, independence, and quality of life. Our role is to ensure that these teams have access to modern resources that make rehabilitation more effective and safe.

The new treadmill was an important need for the Center. Unlike conventional treadmills, it is specifically designed for the physical rehabilitation of people with orthopedic and neurological conditions. It enables patients to gradually regain walking skills while working on balance, coordination, endurance, and proper gait patterns.
One of the treadmill’s key features is its reverse mode, which enables patients to practice walking backwards. This expands the range of therapeutic exercises available to physical therapists and allows them to tailor training to each person’s condition and individual rehabilitation goals.
To ensure patient safety, the treadmill is equipped with a safety harness and parallel handrails that can be adjusted in both height and width. This is particularly important for people who are just beginning to regain independent walking skills and require additional support during therapy.

The equipment also allows rehabilitation professionals to objectively monitor patients’ progress. The system records key training indicators, including the number and length of steps, pace, cadence, and gait symmetry. Training modes can be individually adjusted according to each patient’s physical condition and abilities.
