Last week, the Somova Zhanna family-type children’s home received a new washing machine and laundry detergent for a total of 13,644 UAH.

City: Monastyryshche, Cherkasy region. (internally displaced from Kherson region, the city of Beryslav)

Total number of children: 8.

Oleksandr and Zhanna Somovyh are raising eight wonderful children. Everyone in this family has their own unique interests and talents.

Karina is in the second grade, loves to sing and dance, and Sofia is a sixth grader, actively developing in various directions.
Diana, the older sister, is in the tenth grade and has her own dreams and ambitions.
Sashko, the eldest son, completed the professional lyceum in electricity and has the fourth grade.
Artem is studying in the sixth grade, the boy loves to draw and won more than once in local art competitions.
Danylo, who is also in the sixth grade, helps his father and is noted for his responsibility.
Kyrylo, a fifth-grader, has a hobby of assembling LEGOs, and Nikita, the youngest and most beloved in the family.
The family also has the oldest son, Oleksadr, 23 years old, who repairs and assembles cars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, Oleksandr and Zhanna have two grandchildren, Olezhyk and Vadymchyk, thanks to their sons and daughters, who have already left the family after coming of age.

The purpose of creating a family-type children’s home was to give children warmth and security, as Zhanna and Oleksandr have no children of their own. They always dreamed of a big family and made efforts to make this dream come true.

The war forced her to leave her native home in the Kherson region and look for a safer place for her children. After living in the basement for two months, they were still able to leave. That’s how they got to Monastirishch in the Cherkasy region.

The Somovyh family takes an active part in weaving camouflage nets, as well as preparing canning and sorting things for the needs of the hospital.
