MEDICAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE REHABILITATION CENTER TOTALING 40 540$
We have purchased and delivered 3 units of medical equipment to the Uzhhorod Neurosurgery and Neurology Center, which provides rehabilitation services to people affected by the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
Specifically, the following items were delivered:
• MOTOmed loop rehabilitation device for legs and arms
• MOTOmed layson.Ia rehabilitation device for legs and arms
• SY-HR06E hand rehabilitation device
The total value of these devices is approximately 1 500 000 UAH (approx. 40 540$).
This assistance became possible due to our partnership with GlobalGiving, which has been supporting our projects since the early days of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
At the Uzhhorod Neurosurgery and Neurology Center, a multidisciplinary team of over 20 medical specialists has been formed, providing rehabilitation services to around 2,000 patients per month.
“The rehabilitation team is tasked with returning people to society as quickly and effectively as possible, with maximum independence after recovering. As an institution, we are faced with the challenge of territorial expansion not only in the realm of rehabilitation but also in neurosurgical departments, as we provide assistance to patients from across the entire country. Complex operations involving the brain and spinal cord are performed at our facility. Patients who have been turned away from other neurosurgical institutions in Ukraine often undergo surgery at our center. Our goal is to be the best and provide the highest quality care to our patients.“ – Oleg Lukach, Medical Director of the center.
We would like to remind you that we are implementing a comprehensive project to support the rehabilitation center to reduce the duration of rehabilitation courses, improve their effectiveness, and thereby increase the degree of patients’ recovery. As of August 24, 2023, we have already delivered 4 units of equipment totaling 2 150 000 UAH (approx. 58 110$) and are awaiting the delivery of two more units (expected installation time for the equipment is the second half of September). According to the project plan, by the end of 2023, we plan to additionally purchase and deliver equipment amounting to 4 million UAH (approx. 108 110$).
Approximately 50% of patients who have undergone rehabilitation here can return to a full life. We aim to increase this rate to 80 – 90%.
MOTOmed is used to improve motor function and rehabilitate bedridden patients. Its utilization contributes to enhanced circulation, preservation of muscle mass, and prevention of joint complications. It also has a positive psychological impact, as patients feel actively engaged in the treatment process.
The SY-HR06E hand rehabilitation device is designed to restore the mobility of hand finger joints. It combines a robotic exoskeleton with neurobiology and operates in both active and passive training modes. It covers all stages of hand rehabilitation, assisting patients in training and restoring hand motor functions and resistance capabilities.
The need for diverse and high-quality rehabilitation equipment is critically important today, as Ukrainian medical institutions were not prepared for the level of demand caused by active combat operations and a sharp increase in the range of injuries and damages.
Medical professionals are forced to cope with current challenges daily, working at the limits of their capabilities and utilizing available resources. Members of the multidisciplinary team are constantly evolving and self-improving, acquiring new knowledge to save the lives and health of Ukrainians.
They are performing an immensely important task today, contributing to the full recovery of those who have experienced the horrors of war! We thank the doctors for their work and significant contribution to the future of Ukraine and its people!
We also extend our gratitude to everyone who supports our programs aimed at assisting medical institutions.
We will keep you informed about the progress of the project and the achieved results!
