HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE FOR THE HULKO FAMILY (15,000 UAH)
Last week, a Beko washing machine worth 15,000 UAH was purchased and delivered to the large Hulko family.
The family, residing in Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region, is raising 11 children.
In 2005, the couple took guardianship of two cousins who were orphaned. At that time, Valentina and her husband already had their biological son, Mykola. In 2006, they welcomed Valeria, and by 2009, they had officially become a family-type children’s home.
Today, the family consists of 11 children, with 15 older ones already having graduated. The older children maintain a close connection with the family, have obtained higher education—some even two degrees—and are now married with children of their own.
With the onset of active military operations in 2022, their lives drastically changed. Most of the time was spent in shelters, which had a significant psychological impact on the children. They experienced fear, anxiety, some developed enuresis, insomnia, and exhaustion. During the full-scale invasion, the family also took in two boys from Donetsk region, both abandoned by their parents and displaced by the war.
“These are difficult times for us, our children have difficult pasts, challenging personalities… but we believe that everything will be okay for us, our children, and our country, and that a bright and joyful future awaits us,” says Valentina.
The children are active in various hobbies: they attend soft toy-making workshops, dance classes, English lessons, sing, play sports, and enjoy cooking treats. “The children dream of the war ending soon, peace returning, and taking a trip to the Carpathians and the seaside.”
This assistance was provided as part of the support program for family-type children’s homes.
