HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES FOR THE SAVCHUK FAMILY (18,000 UAH)

26.05.2025

We purchased and delivered a Whirlpool washing machine worth 18,000 UAH to the family of Olena Savchuk, who is raising five children in the town of Maheriv, Lviv region.

Family Story

Our family became a foster family in 2015. It all started with a request from our biological daughter. She said: “I want a sister. It’s lonely without a big brother.” That’s how three more children — Nastia, Slava, and Ania — joined our family. They became part of us right away.

My husband and I are teachers. Our experience in education helped us build trust with the children.

In 2019, our local community bought a house for us through a state program. That’s when we created a full family-type children’s home. We lived in the town of Oleshky, in the Kherson region. We opened a kids’ development studio, where the children did singing, dancing, arts, and sports. We lived an active life, full of hope.

But the war changed everything.

After 1.5 months in occupation, we made a hard decision — to evacuate the children. We left without our things, with little resources, and with much fear — but with one goal: to stay together.

Now we live in the Lviv region. We rent a house and are starting everything from zero. We’ve installed water, set up the kitchen and bathroom. Step by step, we are creating a space where our children can feel safe, play, have hobbies, and dream.

Besides the five children, our 19-year-old daughter, our daughter-in-law, and our grandchildren also live with us. Sadly, our son died. Even in grief, we stay united and support each other.

Our children live full lives again. They play volleyball and football, take part in competitions, go to fitness classes, knit, and dance. Each of them has a dream: Ania wants to be a doctor, Karina dreams of joining the border service, Slava is finishing hydrometeorology college, Kyrylo loves wrestling, and Vlad is still small and just enjoys life.

We have come a long and difficult way. But we are together — and that is what matters most.

This support was provided under the family-type children’s home assistance program.
