HUMANITARIAN AID FOR THREE FAMILY-TYPE CHILDREN’S HOMES

18.10.2023

Last week, we provided assistance to three family-type children’s homes for a total amount of  30,477 UAH.

A reverse osmosis system was handed over to Shatyrko Anna’s family because the water in the house where the family currently lives is very bad.
Anna is an active loving mother, she raises 8 adopted children and 2 biological ones, the youngest girl is 5 years old, and the oldest is 17. Russia’s military attack on Ukraine became a tragedy for the entire nation and Shatyrko’s family, in particular. The family lives in the Chernihiv region. Due to the hostilities that took place directly in their village, almost a third of the house was seriously damaged. Later, due to the shelling of the country’s energy infrastructure and power surges in the network, a fire broke out in one of the children’s rooms.
“We are trying very hard to put everything to bring coziness and comfort back to our home. However, restoring what was destroyed requires significant resources, which is why I am looking for help. I believe that one day our family nest will once again be a place of happiness and love.” – shares Anna.

A furniture set for the organization of a child’s study place, an electric stove, and other household goods were handed over to Vasylieva Halyna’s family.
Galina’s son Stanislav entered the first grade this year, and he needed a place to study, and the presence of an oven gives the children the opportunity to bake the goodies they love so much because there was no such oven in the family at all.
Family-type children’s home of Vasylieva Halyna has been in existence for 12 years. The woman is raising 9 children, the whole family lived in Beryslav in the Kherson region, and they had to survive 9 months of occupation.
“We were sitting in the basements, a Russian tank was facing our house, it was very scary. We lived without electricity and water, and drank water from the pool. There was nothing to buy, and there was no money. Constant explosions and the buzz of drones…” – Galina recalls those terrible times.
After the de-occupation of the Kherson region, the family had the opportunity to leave, and they moved to Kryvyi Rih. Our soldiers took Halyna and the children away without their belongings, because there was no room for suitcases, and therefore the family needs support.

Household appliances for cleaning, as well as 5 sets of bed linen, were handed over to  Butenko Ruslana’s family.

In May 2022, the family moved to Zhytomyr from the village of Novovorontsovka, Kherson region. Ruslana Butenko is a teacher by education and still teaches online for her students.

Lydia is a fourth-grade student. The schoolgirl said that she likes physical culture and design the most. Together with her brothers and sister, she was adopted by the family of Ruslana and Serhiy Butenki. Ruslana says that when the children came to her family, they could neither read nor write.
Currently, the Butenko family is raising 5 children. The father of a large family said that they started taking care of children in 2011, and during that time 11 children were adopted (six of them have already graduated and live independently).

The aid was provided within the framework of the “Help for family-type children’s homes” program.
