INNOVATIVE REHABILITATION EQUIPMENT IN UZHHOROD
As part of the “Rehabilitation: A New Life” project, we provided modern rehabilitation equipment to the Regional Clinical Center of Neurosurgery and Neurology in Uzhhorod, including:
• The CAPRI device for forearm and wrist rehabilitation
• The Neofect Cognition virtual rehabilitation system
The total value of the assistance amounts to 815,430 UAH.
How the Equipment Works
CAPRI helps patients restore forearm and wrist movement through interactive exercises. They control an airplane, hit targets, or complete tracks — all in a game-like format. The therapist can select the necessary functions, adjust the difficulty level, and monitor the recovery progress.
“It’s really cool that everything is interactive. You exercise your hand and immediately see your results. We trained today, and I wanted to keep improving because I could track my progress,” — shared one of the Center’s patients.
The Neofect Cognition system combines physical rehabilitation with cognitive training. It helps improve memory, attention, thinking, and motor skills through virtual tasks that automatically adapt to each user’s abilities. This approach makes rehabilitation not only effective but also emotionally engaging.
“We use this equipment every day, and patients truly enjoy the sessions. It feels like a computer game, but behind it is serious therapeutic work. We can track every stage — from the start to the final result — analyze progress, and adjust the approach. This motivates patients to try harder and inspires us to achieve even better outcomes,” — says Nataliya Olashyn, doctor of physical and rehabilitation medicine, head of the department.
Medical Teams Working by Global Standards
The Uzhhorod center brings together a multidisciplinary team — neurosurgeons, neurologists, anesthesiologists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Many of them have completed internships in leading clinics in Europe and the U.S., combining Ukrainian expertise with international best practices. Thanks to this, patients now receive care that meets the highest standards — enhanced by the newly installed innovative equipment.

Support That Helps People Move Forward
The war in Ukraine has created countless challenges — one of them is the long journey of recovery after injury. Every day, thousands of people fight to regain movement, strength, and independence. Alongside them are dedicated medical teams who put their knowledge, compassion, and heart into helping each patient take the next step.
We help these teams have everything they need — modern equipment, training, and ongoing support. Because rehabilitation is not only about physical recovery, but also about hope, confidence, and the belief that life goes on.
The “Rehabilitation: New Life” project is implemented with the support of GlobalGiving. We sincerely thank our partners for making such important initiatives possible in Ukraine.
