MEDICATIONS FOR SERHIY MALCHENKO TREATMENT

26.09.2024

Last week, we purchased medications worth 10,383 UAH for Serhiy Malchenko’s treatment. These included Antral, Berlithion, Bionorm Detox, Potassium Chloride infusion solution, Creon 10,000, and Hepar Compositum. All these medications are necessary for supportive therapy to combat the child’s body intoxication caused by the treatment of the underlying disease.

Diagnosis: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Date of birth: January 23, 2018

Serhiy, who is now six and a half years old, is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia – one of the most common forms of cancer in children. He was diagnosed in May 2024 and has already undergone the first round of high-dose chemotherapy, with three more courses ahead. ALL is dangerous due to the rapid spread of cancer cells throughout the body, as it affects the bone marrow, which produces blood cells. However, this type of leukemia has a high recovery rate with proper and timely treatment – in children, the survival rate can reach 85-90%.

The medications purchased help support Serhiy’s body during intensive therapy. For instance, Antral and Berlithion protect the liver from the toxic effects of chemotherapy, Bionorm Detox helps cleanse the body by reducing toxin levels, and Creon improves digestion. Hepar Compositum aids in liver cell recovery, while Potassium Chloride maintains the electrolyte balance necessary for the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system.

Due to the specifics of his treatment, Serhiy must travel to a hospital in Odesa for chemotherapy, as such procedures are not available in the Kirovohrad region.

This assistance was provided under the “Childhood Cancer” program.
