AUDIOMETERS FOR MYKOLAIV CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL (791.600 UAH)

02.05.2023

The fund purchased and delivered an audiometer and a tympanometer for diagnosing children’s hearing in Mykolaiv Hospital for a total value of 791 600 UAH.

Mykolaiv Children’s Clinical Hospital is a specialized medical institution that provides medical assistance to children of the entire region from birth to 18 years of age. Now the hospital provides assistance not only to sick and wounded children of the Mykolaiv region but also to temporarily displaced children from other regions of Ukraine due to military aggression by the Russian Federation (for example, from the Kherson region). 2,500 – 3,000 children receive medical help here per month, including inpatient treatment (up to 800 children per month), outpatient counseling, and rehabilitation.

In order to provide the necessary assistance to its patients, the hospital desperately needed a powerful audiometer and tympanometer.

An audiometer is a device for examining the hearing of newborns and children by the screening method. Audiometry is mandatory for all newborns as a screening in order to detect deafness at an early stage, and for children of all ages according to the indication, on average it is up to 100 children per month.

Tympanometry is also an objective method that examines the condition of the middle ear (whether there are fluid or foreign bodies in the middle ear, inflammatory process, deformation or growth of auditory ossicles, etc.). It is the only method to diagnose otosclerosis. On average, 100 children per month are examined on this device.

Constant shelling of the region, and a large number of explosions because of military actions can cause serious hearing problems. So provided equipment is extremely necessary to carry out full diagnostics and define proper treatment.
