EIGHT DOCTORS FROM UZHHOROD AND LVIV COMPLETED ADVANCED ULTRASOUND TRAINING

16.09.2024

As part of the “Resilience: Regained Strength” project aimed at enhancing medical care and rehabilitation in Ukraine, we organized advanced training in ultrasound diagnostics for eight female doctors from leading medical institutions in Lviv and Uzhhorod.

Specifically:
• Four gynecologists from Lviv Y.Lypa Hospital learned new methods in “Ultrasound in Gynecology.”
• Four specialists in physical and rehabilitation medicine from Uzhhorod’s Neurosurgery and Neurology Center improved their skills in “Ultrasound of the Musculoskeletal System.”

During the training, the gynecologists focused on the anatomy of the pelvic organs, the functioning of the female reproductive system, and diagnosing common pathologies. Meanwhile, the Uzhhorod specialists refined techniques for assessing the condition of joints, tendons, and nerves. They received up-to-date recommendations on diagnosing, treating, and managing patients, which will enhance the accuracy of their assessments and the effectiveness of treatments.

Continuous improvement is fundamental to our work, and this training has been a crucial step in our efforts to enhance our services. The knowledge and skills gained help us deliver high-quality medical care to our patients. Preserving women’s health is vital both today and for the future. We are grateful for the opportunity and support in advancing medical care in Ukraine. — Olena Prykupenko, Chief Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Lviv Y.Lypa Hospital

Since the opening of the gynecology department at Lviv Y.Lypa Hospital in 2022, 1,300 women have received medical care here, including female defenders, emergency service workers, wives of Ukrainian defenders, internally displaced persons, and women injured in bombings or evacuated from frontline areas.

Meanwhile Uzhhorod’s Neurosurgery and Neurology Center provides medical and rehabilitation services to over 100 patients monthly, with about 75% requiring ultrasound examinations. These patients include veterans, emergency service workers, and civilians who have sustained injuries from military actions or bombings, including mine explosions and traumatic brain injuries affecting the musculoskeletal or nervous systems.

This training was extremely useful and informative. We learned about modern research methods and received valuable advice and recommendations that we plan to implement in our daily patient care. We are very thankful for the opportunity to learn and advance in quality and evidence-based medicine. — Solomiya Chycherska, Specialist in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Uzhhorod center

The ultrasound diagnostics training was conducted by leading experts in August 2024 at the International Academy of Modern Medical Education in Kyiv and is part of our comprehensive project to enhance the qualifications of Ukrainian doctors.
